Jennifer Austin Mitchell received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University in 1997. She attended law school at University of Tennessee College of Law and obtained her Juris Doctorate in May 2000.

In 2000, Jennifer began working for The Law Office of L. Thomas Austin which eventually became Austin, Davis, & Mitchell Attorneys​. In addition, Jennifer served as Attorney for City of Whitwell and County Attorney for Sequatchie County.​​
